We lead a group of volunteers to tutor the ROCK kids each weekend. We typically meet on weekend mornings for 2 hours. During these sessions, tutors lead a group of 3-6 ROCK members through homework or practice problems in a range of subjects with a specific emphasis on mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. This is a very important component of our program and we are always looking for tutors to join our weekly tutoring sessions.  We have been blessed with a pool of great tutors therefore we do not require tutors to be present every weekend but rather when it’s suitable for their schedule.  We do encourage consistency but we understand people have varying schedules.

To support the kids more broadly, ROCK has a workshop component to it.  Where speakers from a range of backgrounds and professions come in to speak to the kids.  We’ve had engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, to pofessional Hollywood videographers, scriptwriters and a local reporter/author/journalist speak to the kids about their work, how they got into the field and how to learn more about the specific profession or role.

We have supporters from all over the world fundraise for the ROCK program.  Fundraising methods have ranged from working with  local high schools to speak about ROCK and collect gifts in kind like backpacks to selling hand crafted items where the proceeds go to ROCK scholarships.  Many supporters have asked to host events like a bowling night or dinner to share the story of ROCK,  to running races.  If you have an idea and would like to support ROCK please let us know and we can help you organize.
